Sixty-three year old gentleman with non-insulin requiring diabetes mellitus referred to the cardiac arrhythmia clinic for consideration of permanent pacemaker placement. He recently was diagnosed with endocarditis related to a prior pacemaker which necessitated lead extraction. His medications included vancomycin and ceftazidime.
