Eighty-fouryearold woman with a history of hypertension and spinal stenosis

Eighty-fouryearold woman with a history of hypertension and spinal stenosis who was noted to have a sudden onset tachycardia during preoperative evaluation. The patient received intravenous verapamil at which time she converted to normal sinus rhythm. Extended release verapamil was continued without further dysrhythmia recurrence.
